ANTIQUE SHEETS

Whilst broadly similar on first appearance, each sheet is in fact unique and bears its own patina and story.

The sheets we use all broadly share the same characteristics:

  • made from 100% linen or a linen/cotton mix;

  • naturally white, although varying gently in hue across a range of sheets, as all are woven from unbleached fibres;

  • a wonderfully soft drape from decades of gentle washing which softens the sheets;

  • we make sure that the sheets we use are in excellent condition, but please do keep in mind that being over 100 years old, they will have their quirks. We never use sheets with holes, rips or big rust spots.

If your order is for more than one sheet, we will carefully pick a selection of sheets from our stock to ensure the characteristics and shade of white are beautifully matched. However, each sheet will still be unique, usually with different letters and font styles in the monograms and different decorative stitching to the leading edge of the sheet, for example, ladder stitching is commonly found on sheets from this period.

Due to the age of the sheets that we use, we do not recommend they be used for upholstery, unless for decorative/light use only.
